Honorable participants of the Model United Nations Conference of 15 Temmuz Åžehitler Science High School,
It is with great satisfaction and joy that I invite you all to the 15JULYMUN'26. I'm Ayaz Aras Yavuz and serving as your Secretary-General is a privilege and a duty that I take seriously. I'm a 10th grader this year and have been attending MUN conferences continuously since I started high school.

This conference provides not only days of lively debate and precise diplomacy, but also a unique opportunity for young leaders to join around a shared vision of conversation, cooperation, and progress. Our conference has been carefully planned to include a variety of committees, each representing current global challenges and challenging participants to think critically, negotiate eloquently, and lead with empathy.
This year, we will have seven committees, each of which has been intended to challenge participants at various levels of experience and interest. UN Women will promote gender equality and women's empowerment. The Special Political and Decolonization Committee (SPECPOL) will address critical issues of world peace and self-determination. This committee will expect delicate diplomacy as delegates handle territorial disputes, decolonization procedures, and the prevention of long-term crises. The UNODC aims to analyze transnational crime, corruption, and the worldwide drug trade. Delegates will need to strike a balance between international collaboration and national sovereignty while developing solutions based on international law. The Trial Committee provides a unique educational opportunity for people interested in the judicial side of international relations. Delegates will take on the roles of advocates, juries and judges, applying legal clarity and analytical thinking to complicated international cases. The delegates of the Joint Crisis Committee (JCC) will be tested on their flexibility, resourcefulness, and fast thinking skills. This dynamic and fast-paced committee will require prompt solutions to growing crises, forcing delegates to think not only as policymakers, but also as leaders under duress. The Historical Crisis Committee (HCC) will teach delegates about a distinct historical period and encourage them to interpret history via diplomacy and invention. Delegates will confront historical people and significant events, with the opportunity to affect results. These seven committees form the heart of our conference, providing every delegate whether a first-timer or a seasoned participant with the chance to grow, connect, and make meaningful contributions.

Aside from the disputes, our conference is a celebration of community. Each speech, amendment, settlement, and negotiation demonstrates the virtues of mutual respect and open-mindedness. I encourage you not only to passionately defend your national interests, but also to listen, compromise, and seek common ground. The concepts taught here will take you well beyond the committee rooms, preparing you for real-world leadership.

As Secretary General, my vision for this conference is to foster an environment in which intellectual rigor meets inclusivity, where every voice counts, and delegates leave with more than just memories of competition, but also friendships, growth, and a stronger commitment to the ideals of the United Nations. I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to the Secretariat, the Organization, PR, Academic, IT and Finance team for their tireless efforts in crafting this conference. Their hard effort guarantees that what awaiting you is a transforming experience rather than a mere imitation. Delegates, I encourage you to seize this opportunity entirely. Come prepared, curious, and open to being challenged. Whether you're at UN Women debating the significance of policy in advancing equality or JCC navigating the chaos of an unfolding emergency, remember that your comments matter, your actions have an influence, and your presence enriches our community. On behalf of the entire Secretariat, I heartily welcome you. May this conference inspire you to think critically, collaborate bravely, and lead with compassion.

With highest regards,

Ayaz Aras Yavuz
Secretary General,
