Agenda Item: Combating Against Drug Smuggling Across Country Borders.

UNODC is the United Nations entity dedicated to combating the trafficking and abuse of illicit drugs, promoting crime prevention and criminal justice, countering international terrorism, and addressing political corruption worldwide. In recent years, the use and smuggling of illicit drugs have increased significantly across the globe. There are generally three types of countries involved in a trafficking route: source, transit, and consumer countries. Even though nations play different roles in drug trafficking, the harmful consequences such as the breakdown of family structures and social cohesion, the rise in addiction and health problems among the population, and the increase in crime rates including theft, violence, and organized crime affect all countries.

At 15JULYMUN’26, delegates are expected to collaborate in creating practical and innovative strategies to prevent drug smuggling across borders and strengthen international efforts against illicit trafficking.
